Are you ready for the latest in cosmetic enhancement? These Thursday readers smiled and said yes! Forget face-lifts, liposuction and implants. The accessory for the new millennium is a sexy smile. According to Manhattan celebrity dentist Marc Lowenberg, the most desirable smile is a big, toothy grin. And in delivering this look, dentist boroughwide are cashing in big. The cosmetic procedures du jour are veneers (or laminates), in which a porcelain film is bonded to the teeth to disguise shape, length and color. Aside from looking great, the veneers are impervious to nicotine and caffeine stains. Lowenberg, who says the technique was popular a decade ago, notes that it's back in force as the cosmetic procedure of c voice among aging baby boomers. "Most of my clients tell me they want teeth like Claudia Schiffer's, but I can't just stamp the same smile on everyone who comes in here." says Lowenberg, whose favorite celebrity smiles include Cindy Crawford's Julianna Margulies' and Julia Roberts'. "The shape you make the teeth should be a reflection of that person's personality," he warns. |
